Through Their Eyes

As a young historian, you must remember that you an an observer of the past, not an actor in the past. It is nearly impossible for us to eliminate our own  current bias and opinion when looking at historical events, so we must view the past through the eyes of those that experienced it to truly understand what happened and why it was important.  Looking at different historical perspectives opens up a whole additional world of understanding history.
